We have drawn a little Valentine in love ❤️ who declares his flame with a little flower from the Monceau park… 24 km in spite of a strong cold (-11°C/12.2°F felt), with beautiful descents alternating, of course, with rough climbs… Bravo to the brave who took over the street… “La rue est à nous !” “The street is ours !” Thank you very much Alice, Angélina, Mahdi, Patricia and Pierre ! —- Paris Running Tours: private tours or free outings, stay tuned! Running doing a spiral in the centre of Paris! So many things to discover or see again, to share the history of Paris, to understand the link between historical events and the physiognomy of the city, to have the joy of running together… a pleasant stroll (and the satisfaction of a shared drink in the beautiful garden of the Palais Royal after the effort…). Many thanks to Chrystelle, Eric, Flavien, Jérôme, Justice and Marie! Paris Running Tours: private tours or free outings, stay tuned! A little bit of Paris in one minute – The oldest house in Paris

The inscription in Middle French (French of the late Middle Ages/Renaissance): “Nous homes et femes laboureurs demourans ou porche de ceste maison qui fu fte en lan de grace mil quatre cens et sept, somes tenus chacun en droit soy dire tous les jours une patrenostre et 1 ave maria en priant dieu que sa grace face pardon aux povres pescheurs trespassez. amen.” “We, men and women, workers living in the porches of this house that was made in the year of grace one thousand four hundred and seven are, each of us, required by law to say every day one Our Father and one Hail Mary while praying to God that his grace brings forgiveness to the poor deceased sinners, amen.” If you too, you come to Paris, we will be very happy to run with you. Another tour with our friends from Turin for a new discovery of Paris

Daniele and Marina from Turin regularly come to Paris. We had the pleasure of doing a new Paris running tour together, a beautiful 18 km race in a rather cold Paris. This time, we explored the north of Paris (last February, we had covered 20 km around the Seine). Before venturing into the beautiful Montmartre, we passed by the rue de Turin 😉: Who says Montmartre says mills, the “Moulin-Rouge” (a “fake” mill whose theatre is well known) and the “Moulin de la Galette”, composed of two authentic mills: In Montmartre, we went to celebrate Marcel Aymé, here immortalized as the “Passe Muraille”, the hero of his famous novel. The statue was created by his friend, the actor Jean Marais, just in front of the writer’s house. Who remembers the inauguration of this work in February 1989? Exactly 30 years ago! We made a detour to see the Clos Montmartre. The vines are sleeping under the snow this February. Come also in October to participate in the Clos Montmartre grape harvest festival (“La fête des Vendanges du Clos Montmartre”). On the occasion of the race “Les foulées du tertre 2008″, one of our guides on the podium was rewarded with one of the very narrow bottles of the Clos Montmartre (on the right of the photo). A little known and very rare wine, the vine having a small production… And of course, the magnificent view of Paris: We left Montmartre (downhill, it’s easier 😉) to reach the centre of Paris via beautiful covered passages: Even if we still had a few kilometers to run, we took a short break to admire the beautiful church of Saint Eustache: Many thanks Marina and Daniele! We look forward to meeting again next year (or perhaps earlier). If you too, you come to Paris, we will be very happy to run with you. Come and discover the Parisian Street Art with us

At Paris Running Tours, we love all aspects of Paris and there are many, History, Art, Culture, new trends, street furniture, new events, etc. We like to share all this with our visitors. One of the things we like to introduce you to is the Street Art (or “Street-Art”) that flourishes everywhere in Paris. New works of art regularly appear in the different districts of Paris, as above, with this recent work by Seth in this old district of Paris, Seth who often paints children as here. Thank you to our runners from Switzerland, on this Sunday, October 7, 2018, Christine, Morgane, Marie-Eve and Nathalie! Thank you Christine for introducing us to “the whole team”. We were very happy to meet you again for a tour. Here are some other examples of Parisian “Street Art”: You will certainly remember that for a certain period of time (~2008-2015), the “Pont des Arts” had become the “Love locks bridge”. Find the changes of the Bridge in this article, old article now. Before moving definitively to transparent panels to replace the grids, Paris allowed street artists to cover the bridge with artistic works. We like the one in the following photo which represents the Paris Coat of Arms in an original way: Next Sunday, October 14, 2018, it will be the race of the 20 km de Paris. The theme of this year’s race: “Street Art”! If you too, you come to Paris, we will be very happy to run with you. Running with Pedro and Juliana on the historic axis of Paris

Pedro and Juliana – On the historic axis of Paris, in the garden of the Tuileries 9:10 AM – Juliana and Pedro are well trained runners from Campinas, near Sao Paulo in Brazil. We ran all along the river the Seine and for a good part, on the historic axis of Paris. Historic axis? Yes, it is the name given to the axis which leaves the center of Paris and goes westward. The history of this axis began when the Capetian kings took the habit to leave the Louvre to go hunting in the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, drawing then a way in straight line to the West. In 1599, king Henri IV created a road on this axis leading of the Louvre to Saint Germain’s castle. This axis is successively fitted out and embellished, by the extension of the Louvre, the garden of the Tuileries, the place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe and now, the Business center of the La Defense with the “Grande Arche”. Discover in detail the historic axis of Paris. Click on the following image. On the obtained page, you can again enlarge the image (a new click on it). Then, take place on the right of the image and with the horizontal-scroll, move on the left (Have a good trip!) Do you remember the previous article, which speaks about the Baron Haussman who had wished to enlarge the axis eastward? Do you also remember this running with Amy, where we had made a buckle on the West part of the axis by leaving from “La Defense”? Pedro and Juliana – Quai d’Orsay Juliana and Pedro – Champ de Mars and Esplanade du Trocadéro Merci Juliana et Pedro ! The route of the tour:
Center of Paris, right bank with Liz and Curt

Curt and Liz – The “Bourse de Paris” 9:12 AM – Curt and Liz are regular runners who live near Boston (USA). We left the Opera to make a big visit, more than 10 miles (16 km) to discover Paris center, on the Right bank side (a good training for the half marathon Curt prepares). Not far from the Opera, we found the “Bourse de Paris”. Ordered by Napoleon the 1st and created by Alexandre Théodore Brongniart, the building called Palais Brongniart (Brongniart Palace), served for a long time as stock exchange, the Paris Stock Exchange, before the transactions were dematerialized since the 1980s. Remember: Now everything is computerized! The “Bourse de Paris” serves now as a conference, receptions, fashion shows, showroom or exhibitions center. Later, we crossed “Le Marais” quarter (Marais=swamp), very quiet on this Sunday morning. No cars! The street belongs to the runners! Curt and Liz – The Marais Sunday morning, ideal moment to run in Paris! How many discoveries by running, the old Paris, the modern Paris, the fashion shops, the museums, the passages… The Marais, the “Passage des Panoramas”, The “Pont des Arts”, The Pyramide of the Louvre The first shop of a very fashionable shoes manufacturer, The Louvre, The river Seine On our way, a couple of tourists asked Liz to photograph them. It fell well, Liz is, among others, a professional photographer! Liz – Louvre and the Arc of the Carousel Merci Liz ! Merci Curt ! The route of the tour :
Two running tours to discover Paris with Jennifer

Jennifer – Louis-Philippe’s bridge 7:02 AM – Jennifer, of San Francisco, runs very regularly. We were able to discover the center of Paris by making two running tours early in the morning: the right bank, the left bank, the shores of the Seine and of course, the Parisian islands, the Island of “La Cité” and the Saint Louis Island. On the photo above, we can see on the left, in the foreground, the Saint Louis Island then, at the bottom, the Island of “La Cité”. Did you know that Paris counted ten islands at the end of the XVIth century? The river Seine – 1550 During our two races, we were able to… Find the Palace of the Legion of Honor: Jennifer – “Palais de la Légion d’Honneur” Paris | “California Palace of the Legion of Honor” San Francisco The museum “California Palace of the Legion of Honor” in San Francisco is a replica of the “Palais de la Légion d’Honneur” of Paris. The facade of the Palace in San Francisco is very visible and highlighted by the very beautiful “Lincoln Park”. We can admire the original Palace in Paris since a more narrow street, the “rue de Lille”. greet Geneviève, noble Parisian Lady who made Attila and his Huns run away in the 5th century and since became the protector of Paris: Jennifer – Geneviève “Eglise Saint Etienne du Mont”, “Jardin du Luxembourg”, “Pont de la Tournelle” Geneviève is always represented with long plaits. Recent artistic style? No, it seems that effectively, during the Medieval period which begins in 5th century, the fashion was with long hair, frequently braided. If you want to discover Geneviève’s life, go on the “Mountain” of the same name in Paris and visit the “Panthéon”, all her life is painted on walls there. visit the Paris of the Middle Ages by going through the “Marais”: Jennifer – “Rue François Miron” – “Rue des Barres” Merci Jennifer ! Running in the Champs-Elysées with Françoise and Benoît

Françoise and Benoît – Champs-Elysées 8:59 AM – With Françoise and Benoît of Belgium, we began our run on the Parisian western historic axis. This “royal” way begins in the Louvre with the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, crosses the garden of the Tuileries, continues by the Champs-Elysées, passes under the Arc de Triomphe and continues up to the business district of the La Defense to end at the Grande Arche. We then continued our sports stroll along the Seine on the left bank. In passing on the Pont des Arts, we saw the “beaches of Paris “: Paris-Plages. Paris-Plages is an event which takes place in Paris in summer on the right bank automobile traffic lane: some sand, deckchairs, games, concerts, any sorts of activities and this year, a beautiful sand castle! Paris-Plages Merci Benoît et Françoise ! The route of the tour :
