Lions Paris 9 Run – 10km du Neuf 2019

The race was formerly called the 10 km race in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. More recently renamed the 10 km of the NINE, it took place without interruption from the 2000s (in autumn) until 2016. More than 1500 participants in 2016 (422 in 2005!). The 10 km of the NINE will therefore resume this year 2019. The results and photos proposed in link date from 2016. The town hall of the 9th district organizes the race in partnership with Lions Club International. In addition to the 10 km, there is a 1.5 km family run. A beautiful course in a loop, a not really flat circuit in the heart of the 9th arrondissement, boulevard des Italiens, boulevard Haussmann, Opéra Garnier, places Clichy and Pigalle, at the foot of Montmartre by way of rue des Martyrs… Objective of the event: to raise funds to help those in need, each runner allocating his bib to the cause he cares about, diabetes, the environment, hunger, childhood cancer, vision or disability, all in a festive atmosphere around the race village. Strides of the Tertre in Montmartre 2019

“Les foulées du Tertre” As every year, Montmartre is open to runners thanks to this unusual 10 km. This is the 31st edition of the “Foulées du Tertre”! Last year, the snow cooled the runners in the middle of March. Let’s recall some of the characteristics of this original race: in the heart of Montmartre, with its cobblestones, its “charming” climbs and descents, its tourists (the race takes place on Saturday afternoon), awards worthy of the artistic district for the best (paintings by local artists), the touristic circuit (windmills, views of Paris, Place du Tertre), pre race entertainment and our friend André, the famous coffee boy runner amongst the organizers… Don’t necessarily look for the record, as you can see, it’s not all flat… The videos in the links correspond to the 2011 edition… And why not combine this competition with a sightseeing tour of the city during your stay in Paris by running with real Parisian runner guides (warming up a day before the competition or recovering a day after)? Eco-Trail of Paris 2019

The EcoTrail of Paris is the great Parisian Trail, Parisian because it ends in Paris for several of its races and what is more, at the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, which is the case in particular for the Trail of 80 km-50 miles (80 km with a small treat for the end, more than 400 steps to climb to reach the first floor and the arrival!) The Ecotrail de Paris corresponds to several competitions, the trails 80km, 45km, 30km, 18km, hikes and Nordic walks. For those who would only be interested in the Eiffel Tower, there is also the Vertical of the Eiffel Tower: climb the 1665 steps that lead to the summit in a minimum of time… less than 10 minutes for the best… This Vertical is the first event of these four days dedicated to Ecotrail. You will find all the information about these races on the EcoTrail website which is very well done. Paris Half Marathon 2019

It is the HALF MARATHON of Paris, the 27th edition. There are two other half marathons in Paris but whose course is not totally in Paris, the Vincennes half marathon and the Boulogne half marathon (see the corresponding articles in this blog). Among the new features this year, the route and the village. Even if the route is very similar to last year’s, the start and finish are no longer in the Bois de Vincennes. The race starts from the pier of Austerlitz (not far from the train station of the same name) and ends in front of the “Grande Bibliothèque”, the BnF site François Mitterrand (Bibliothèque Nationale de France), pier François Mauriac. Similarly, the village that was located in the Bois de Vincennes in the Floral Park is now at La Villette. Village, start, finish, all this a little more central in Paris and therefore a better access for runners who do not live on the Vincennes side… The race is still taking place for a good part in the Bois de Vincennes, about ten kilometers. A fairly flat route compared to the 1990s… So, first half-marathon, looking for record on the distance, preparation for the Paris marathon which takes place 5 weeks later, pleasant running time with friends, whatever, GOOD HALF!
