The Solirun 2018

“La Solirun” The Soli’run is a sports and solidary event against poor housing, organized since 2012 by several Rotary clubs for the benefit of “Habitat et Humanisme Ile-de-France”. In the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, in the first days of spring, the Soli’ run offers a sports programme for the whole family: The Soli’run 10, race of 10 km (referenced in the Paris Running Tour challenge*) The Soli’run 6, race of 6 km The Soli’kids, race of 1 km and race of 2 km (reserved for the youngest children / 5-15 years). The Soli’walk, a 4 km walk, fun and family-friendly Only race against poor housing, the Soli’ run brings together Sunday sportsmen and women, the most experienced athletes and even toddlers and walkers who want to associate their kilometers with a cause. Over the past 6 years, an important chain of solidarity has been created between people, riders, companies, service providers and partners. They make a commitment one morning or several months so that this event is a success both in sports and solidarity. For the 2018 edition, the Soli’ run intends to mobilize even more participants and partners in order to collect more for “Habitat et Humanisme Ile-de-France”. * The Paris Running Tour challenge has nothing to do with our company of visit of Paris done while running, Paris Running Tours. We also like competitions very much, hence the idea of this blog “Races” within our tours in Paris website. So here we talk about all the races in Paris, some of which are part of the challenge. 🙂
Strides of Insurance 2018

Les Foulées de l’Assurance 2018 “Les Foulées de l’ Assurance” is a sporting event with the aim of – fighting cardiovascular diseases – mobilize and sensitize the general public and insurance employees around this cause. – It is also a responsible event, which is part of the “Running in solidarity and responsible” approach. Two possibilities, a 10 km run or an 8 km walk. 10 K of the heart (“10 km du Coeur”) The 10 km race takes place in the “Bois de Boulogne” and consists of a single loop with a flat and very green track. The race consists of a 10 km loop in the heart of the “Bois de Boulogne”, Parisian western wood. Urban and forest, it is a real breath of fresh air in the heart of Paris. The “10 Km du Coeur” are organized for the benefit of ADICARE, an association working for the development and innovations in cardiology. This race is above all a moment of relaxation and solidarity for a public health cause. Start at 10:00 AM Walk of the heart (“Marche du coeur”) Participating in the “Walk of the Heart” helps the association “Make Your Heart Beat” (“Fais Battre Ton Cœur”), so that cardiac arrest is no longer a fatality. Strides of the Tertre in Montmartre 2018

“Les foulées du Tertre” This 10K is a very original race in Paris, very unusual, with a start in the afternoon on a Saturday, but especially, taking place in Montmartre, among the tourists, which are many. Montmartre is a 130-metre-high hill north of Paris, a charming and well-known “village” in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. A hilly place? Yes, that day, the runners can experience it by running three loops rather steep, on the cobblestones of the Montmartre hill… the route passes in front of the “Sacré-Coeur” and the well-known “Place du Tertre”. We pass by the famous “Moulin de la Galette” (one of the two windmill, the Radet) but without seeing it, it is behind our back! A difficult but very pleasant experience, especially because of its very typical atmosphere. Among the organizers, our friend André, the famous “garçon de café” in a hurry, a big fan of Parisian races.
Paris Eco-trail 2018

The Paris EcoTrail is made up of several races, walks and hikes… and even a vertical one. Even though most of the EcoTrail’s races and walks start outside Paris, the most classic EcoTrail races all finish in Paris (80 km, 45 km, 30 km*), at the most famous place in Paris: the Eiffel Tower. The Verticale is entirely dedicated to it with a start at his feet and a finish at the top, after having climbed 1665 steps… “La Verticale” can be achieved in less than 10 minutes for the best “runners”… Probably faster than taking the elevator that leads you to the second floor and then the one that leads you to the third floor! The runners who have chosen the 80 km will also have a small treat at the end, climb to the first floor of the tower! Nothing at all after 80 km…;) The first event is the Verticale, which starts on Thursday 15th March at 8:20pm and allows you to enjoy the view of the illuminated Paris (well… after the finish). The other races take place the following weekend. You will find all the information about these races on the EcoTrail website which is very well done. * 80 km = 50 Mi, 45 km = 28 Mi, 30 km = 19 Mi, 18 km = 11 Mi
Paris Half Marathon 2018

The Paris half-marathon. There are two other half-marathons in Paris, the more “intimate” half-marathon of Vincennes, which takes place in the Bois de Vincennes, can be considered as a half-marathon of Paris, the Bois de Vincennes belonging to Paris! Another great half-marathon also exists, very close by, the half-marathon of Boulogne with a few kilometers done in the Bois de Boulogne, also belonging to Paris! The one of Boulogne has an international level (see the other posts about these half marathons). The Half Marathon of Paris is the first major international race of the year in Paris, before the Marathon de Paris. He is considered to be the half-marathon to prepare for the Paris marathon. This year, the half-marathon is five weeks away from the marathon. To your training plans! As for several years now, the start and finish are in the Bois de Vincennes. The race goes and joins the heart of Paris passing by the river Seine, reaches the Hôtel de Ville and returns again by the Seine to rejoin the Bois de Vincennes and to end with some uphill false flats at the finish near the starting point. A beautiful loop! Who remembers the old courses that started at “Stade Charléty” and ended up in the stadium on the track? The end reserved some beautiful climbs… Find the 1998 edition below, 20 years ago… Previous editions: 2017 Edition – 1999 edition – 1998 Edition
